Choir School Completes the Week!

Sorry for the rather abrupt end to blog notes... the Internet service at RNS was down over the weekend. We did, however, have a wonderful Saturday, and completed the week Sunday afternoon with a beautiful service of worship at Trinity Church in Saint John. Look for an update to the Choir School website next month, with new pictures from the week. Thanks to everyone who was a part of everything!

Thursday Service in Saint John!

Choir School took it to the road last night, as we travelled to St. Mary's and St. Bartholomew's Church in east Saint John. There, the congregation welcomed us with a great meal for supper, as well as treats after the service! There was a great turnout from the whole community, and many of the adults arriving for the adult portion of Choir School were with us as well. It was a wonderful night!

Tuesday... another great day!

The Choir School engaged in a much-loved game of Dough Boy yesterday (two teams, each with water guns and bags of flour, trying to protect their "queen"... you get the idea. It was a great time for all, lots of running around, shouting, and water flying everywhere. yes, we also did some singing!! There were many great moments yesterday, and many new friendships are becoming more and more solid. Today, they continue working on their acts for the Variety Show, which takes place tonight. Big Day Monday; Tues. looks great!

It was a big day on Monday, with lots going on, including rehearsals, a game of Capture the Flag, and other great activities. Today, more of the same, with a game of "Dough Boy" thrown in (imagine a field full of kids, some with bags of flour, and other with water guns... you get the idea). The weather looks great, the kids are in great spirits... what more could we ask for?

Getting Down to Business on Monday!

Monday is well along, and there has been lots going on already. Our first rehearsals revealed a VERY promising choir, with lots of basic skills already in hand. the group broke into three smaller groups for Christian Ed., Christian Culture, and a Heather's singing group. Add lunch, another rehearsal, and it is time for a hour of rest before the big "Capture the Flag" game. Then there is supper, rehearsal....

We're Live!

Choir School has begun, and as I write this at 7:45, voice testing has just bee completed. Daily blog entries will try to keep people up-to-date on what's going on. Parents - if you wish to send a message to your child, please email me (chris.hayes@anglican.nb.ca), and the Choir School postal service will ensure the message gets through. More news to come!

7 DAYS TO GO (plus water bottles!)

It's getting closer!!! Don't forget, when you register, there will be a chance to purchase Choir School CDs from last year's Evensong service at the Cathedral ($10 each) and also the incredible, fantastic, simply stupendous, outrageously amazing, out-of-this-world Choir School water bottle!!! The photo on the left says it all (because.. it's a picture of a Choir School water bottle). These sell for $3 each, which is itself an amazing value. Enjoy!!!!

10 DAYS TO GO!!!

It seems like an eternity for some, and not enough time for others, depending on how much you have to do before July 6th. Anyone excited yet? Send a post, to say how you're going to make the time go by faster until then!

Time is running out to vote for your favourite T-shirt colour for this year! Also, if anyone is really out there, how about a suggestion for the next idea or suggestion to vote on? Hello? ... hello...?

After a few glitches with the hosting service, the new;y updated Choir School website is finally up and running! go to the site to se newly placed picts from last year, download an application form, and much more! If you have an idea for something that should be on the site, let me know, and perhaps it will show up there sometime. Have fun!

Vote!

There is a new feature on this blog, a question for which you can cast your vote. Right now, it is for the colour of this year's T-Shirt at Choir School. While the outcome may not necessarily dictate what colour is provided, it does give the Board something to go on. Vote now, while there's still time!

Resurrection... of sorts

It has been far, far, far, far, far too long since the last posting. I guess that's what I (and you) get when a clergyperson looks after something like a blog: regular postings are sometimes few and far (and I mean FAR) between. However, all is not lost. This is my quick way of announcing that a new, overhauled web site for Choir School will be up and running by the end of tomorrow (Wed., May 7th)!!! It will have all the up-to-date information regarding Choir School 2008, as we know it at this time. Many young folks have applied for staff positions, and interviews will be held in the next 2 weeks. There is information on applications, contacts, and plans for this year. Also, see the pict from our recent Choral Evensong service at St. Luke's, in Saint John, from APril 20th. A wonderful evening indeed!
